Three YMCA Hiring Events, One Season
The Y posted all three dates on its own hiring page, and Memphis Public Libraries' JobLINC service has been sharing the flyers with job seekers.
Cordova: Wednesday, October 14, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. The first event runs at 7171 Goodlett Farms Parkway, the address of the Y's association support center. The focus is childcare positions. Bring a resume and come ready to interview.
Bartlett: Saturday, October 24, 9:00 a.m. – noon. The second event moves to 7700 Flaherty Place in Bartlett, and it carries the most detail. The Y says qualified candidates may be hired on the spot. Open roles include full-time teachers and part-time assistant teachers for Grace Early Learning Center, part-time site directors and group leaders for Before & After Care, and Club Y advisors and site directors for middle school programs.
Hernando: Saturday, November 7, 9:00 a.m. – noon. The last date crosses the state line to 905 Magnolia Hills Cove in Hernando, down I-55 in DeSoto County. It's the easy one for Southaven, Olive Branch and Horn Lake residents. The Y hasn't listed specific roles for this date, so check the hiring page closer to the day.
💼 The Jobs and What Comes With Them
Most of these roles revolve around school schedules. Before & After Care staff cover the hours on either side of the school day, Club Y works with middle schoolers, and the early learning roles are classroom jobs with young children. That makes many of them a good fit for college students, parents and anyone after part-time hours.
The Y has not posted pay rates for these openings, and we won't guess them. Ask at the event. What it does list are the perks. Part-time staff get a free YMCA membership, discounted before- and after-school care and camps, a 403(b) savings plan and an employer-funded retirement plan once eligible. Full-time staff add medical, dental, disability and life insurance, paid time off and 50% off early learning care. The October 24 flyer also mentions on-demand pay and flexible schedules.
The Y hasn't published age minimums or screening requirements on its hiring page. Jobs with children usually involve a background check, so ask about the process when you interview.
📋 How to Show Up Ready
- Apply online first. The Y's openings are listed through its hiring page, and an application already on file speeds things up.
- Bring a printed resume. List any time spent coaching, tutoring, babysitting, camp counseling or teaching Sunday school. It counts here.
- Know your hours. Before & After Care means early mornings and mid-afternoons. Be clear about which blocks you can cover.
