City of Memphis Career Fair: Friday, October 9

The city hires for garbage trucks, fire engines, water plants and animal shelters all at once, and this fair puts division representatives in front of job seekers directly. It runs four hours at the Lester Community Center on Mimosa Avenue, a short hop off Sam Cooper Boulevard for anyone coming from Midtown or East Memphis.

The event page does not name which divisions will staff tables. The city's careers portal, though, has recently carried openings for CDL drivers, maintenance mechanics, wastewater treatment trainees, environmental engineers and animal care technicians, across divisions including Solid Waste, General Services, Parks, Fire and Police.
